The Indonesian Archery National Team Sharpens Cohesiveness Ahead of the 2021 SEA Games

AKARTA – Chairperson of the Executive Board of the All-Indonesian Archery Association (PB Perpani) Illiza Sa’aduddin Djamal said the Indonesian archery team was getting closer to the implementation SEA Games Hanoi Vietnam, 12-23 Mei 2022.
“Though these athletes have a very short time in carrying out the national training to take part in the Hanoi SEA Games, but with the chemistry that I have seen during their practice, they are quite compatible and compact,” said Illiza on the sidelines of the visit of the Central KONI at the Gelora Bung Karno archery field in Jakarta.
Illiza is also optimistic that the Red and White squad can achieve maximum results at the Hanoi SEA Games later. “Please pray for the support of all Indonesian people for our archery athletes so that they are really confident, they have strong enough stamina and also a winning mentality, hopefully what they get consistently during this training can later be brought to Vietnam,” said Illiza.
In preparation for the Hanoi SEA Games, Perpani plans to send athletes to the 2022 Archery World Cup in Antalya, Turkey on April 18-24.
A total of 10 athletes will compete in the Archery World Cup in Turkey, consisting of seven male and three female athletes, including three athletes who will appear at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Riau Ega Agatha, Arif Dwi Pangestu, and Bagas Prastyadi.
Meanwhile, the General Chair of the Central KONI Marciano Norman believes that archery achievements will continue to increase.
“I and the management of KONI had the opportunity to directly observe the activities of the Indonesian archery athletes’ Pelatnas who are preparing for the upcoming SEA Games in Vietnam, they look quite ready,” said Marciano.
“Hopefully in Vietnam later they will be better than previous times. This archery needs to get great attention from all sports stakeholders because history tells us that through archery, Indonesia won its first medal at the Olympics in 1988,” said Marciano.
